A lovely blog post discussing the excavation and preservation of the venerable Autodesk Animator, which just so happens to be the application I started my career on. It's the thing I spent most of my time in during my apprenticeship, along with a little 3D Studio. The computer we used to run them was an epically powerful (at the time) 486 running at 25Mhz. I love a bit of software history, especially when it's as richly storied as this.
I also came across the rather interesting looking Aseprite pixel art and animation software.
